Because death and funerals is a topic that is
not typically discussed very much, there is a good deal of misunderstandings
that goes on among people as they try to plan a funeral. One
of the biggest misunderstandings is the fact that most people
don’t know the difference between burial caskets and coffins.
A coffin is different in a couple of ways. A coffin is typically
what you will see when someone has been buried in the item and
it has been custom made around some of the contours of the body.
Coffins typically have more points to them while caskets are
more or less rectangular.
A coffin is the simpler of the two types of boxes and is used
often in simple Orthodox religious services since some Orthodox
religions don’t believe in adorning the deceased with
a nice, well-decorated box.
Also coffins are usually much more difficult to open while
their counterparts include hinges on them for easy opening.
Even though death brings trials and problems, if you know
the difference between burial caskets and coffins, this will
be one less thing you will need to worry about.
