When looking at the variety of caskets for sale, it’s important to have some basic information to make a decision before buying one. It seems that there are plenty of funeral homes that have no problem in taking advantage of the opportunity to sell you an overpriced coffin.
There many types of caskets for sale, including:
• Wood (pine, walnut, mahogany, cherry or oak)
• Hardwood (ash, maple, elm, poplar and cottonwood)
• Metals (bronze, copper or stainless steel)
• Eco-friendly cardboardOf all the different kinds of caskets for sale, the traditional wood ones are the least-expensive. Since coffins made of pine are the least expensive, many funeral homes don’t set them out on display. Just remember that no coffin can fully preserve a body and any type of “airtight construction” will just keep water from seeping in and causing rust–but not worth paying extra for.
