Childrens caskets
There
are few things more tragic or heart-wrenching than the death of a child,
and picking out a coffin is usually the last thing on a parent’s
mind. However, it should provide a little comfort to know that there
are just as many dignified and beautiful childrens caskets as there
are adult-sized coffins.
Childrens caskets are also made from the materials as regular coffins.
Wood coffins (pine, walnut, mahogany, cherry or oak) are very popular
because of their affordability, but hand-carved, hardwood coffins (ash,
maple, elm, poplar and cottonwood) are also available in child size.
There are many different sizes of childrens caskets, usually ranging
from 12” to 48”. Infant caskets don’t typically include
the extravagant décor that most other coffins do. Instead of
wood or metal, infant coffins are usually made out of duraboard (cardboard)
or polystyrene, which allows parents the opportunity to grieve without
having to worry about spending a lot of money on a coffin.
