Discount caskets are not quite as common to find as you might believe. You may not know that there are several strict laws associated with casket making and how funeral homes deal with them.
If you understand better what your rights are as you plan a funeral, things can go much more smoothly and allow you to better concentrate on remembering the life of your loved one.
For example, often funeral homes will supply a casket to your loved one as part of the whole deal of the funeral. Often you may not know exactly how much this casket costs since it is included in the package deal. That means you can end up paying much more for it than you would like.
If you choose to buy a casket from another company of manufacturer, you should not let the funeral home employees make you feel obligated to use one of theirs. Actually, there is a federal law that states that if you want to use a casket that you bought somewhere else, you can use it.
Also, for example, if a casket is delivered straight from a manufacturer to a funeral home, federal law states that the funeral home must accept it.
Additionally, if you bring the casket yourself, the funeral home must use it as well. The federal law also mandates that those funeral homes who accept caskets from other places cannot add extra charges to your total bill.
The fact that these federal laws exist should be a nice assurance for you. Simply put, these laws will allow you to focus more on the life of your loved one and less on making sure that the funeral home will accept your discount caskets.
